THE MISSION OF THE OKMULGEE COUNTY SAFEHOUSE –
is to provide crisis intervention services and a safe haven for survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their children. Through a 24/7 crisis line, the Safehouse assists survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking with crisis intervention. The Okmulgee County Safehouse will is a full shelter service center. It is the philosophy of the Safehouse that survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault can be assisted through the use of advocacy. Advocacy consists primarily of the process of education and encouragement. It is a short-term, goal -oriented process. The long- range goal of advocacy is prevention and the advocate works hard to link the survivor with extended support services.

The Safehouse is a secure environment and a place of refuge for survivors and their children. The staff will ensure, to the best of their ability, the safety, security and confidentiality of the client is protected.
